When you are a busy mom who is managing drop off and pick up time and keeping everyone fed and healthy, tackling your own nutrition is no easy feat (remember, the ends of your kiddos sandwich don’t count). At Boobie*, we want to empower you with ingredients and products that will fuel you through every stage of motherhood. In each of our products you will find the highest quality organic ingredients specifically sourced to nourish women in motherhood and to give you the most bang for your buck with your nutrition. How do we do this? We pack our products with superfoods, the richest nutrient-dense foods which are full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc. to fuel you through your day.
Here’s a peek at just some of the Superfoods we use to support SuperMoms, like you:
Organic Sacha Inchi
The nutritional profile of this star shaped seed packs a lot of punch. This Superfood seed contains protein, omega 3 fatty acids, magnesium, vitamin A & E and antioxidants to boot. Sacha inchi contains 17 times the omega-3 oil content of salmon and has the added benefit of being earth friendly since our waters are overfished. We grind this seed into a powder to add the essential nutrients for those on a plant based diet. You’ll find this super star included in our certified organic superfood protein blend, Boobie Body.
Organic Shatavari
Common in ayurvedic medicine, shatavari is a Superfood herb that has not only amazing nutritional properties but healing properties for women’s health as well. Shatavari falls into the category of being an adaptogen- which are herbs known to help support the body through periods of high stress which means it’s the perfect addition for the stresses of #momlife.1 Not only will shatavari help you manage stress but it also boasts high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which can help boost your immunity, mood and protect your health. It also helps ease the symptoms of PMS, perimenopause, menopause, boost libido, balance hormones and it’s also a galactagogue (a substance that increases milk supply in lactation).
Organic Turmeric
This ancient spice isn’t just for use in your favorite curry sauce- it also carries several health benefits and medicinal properties and is best known for its anti-inflammatory benefits making it one of the best known Superfoods. Turmeric’s active ingredient, curcumin can reduce the damage caused by free radicals in our environment (from pollutants, chemicals, etc) and help increase our antioxidant capacity- both of these help to reduce risk of chronic disease.2 Turmeric is a common galactagogue in Thailand and India. The high level of antioxidants in turmeric has made it widely studied in the treatment of cancer, Alzheimer's, depression, pain management, and numerous other diseases with more exciting research to come. It’s no wonder we had to include it in all our Boobie* products!
Cinnamon
Amazing smell, flavor and a Superfood? Cinnamon is really a star Superfood which can support regulating your blood sugar levels, boost your metabolism, and provide a dose of disease fighting polyphenols (plant compounds).3 Nutrition wise, cinnamon is rich in manganese, a trace mineral which supports nutrient absorption and building immunity (because no mom has time for sick days!). Cinnamon is used for lactogenic properties in Brazil and Peru, which was not as known in the west until our founder and board certified lactation consultant, Nurse Wendy, began including cinnamon in all our products. This aromatic Superfood should be included more in our daily lives, one way to sneak it in every day is by drinking a daily protein smoothie with a scoop of Boobie Body!
Organic Moringa
The most nutrient-dense green Superfood that is now on the cusp of being a household name, we have been using Moringa in our products since 2011. Back then it was unknown to most except those in the lactation community (since it’s also a galactagogue). However, the superpowers of moringa are for ALL humans, young and old. In fact, it’s one of the first foods when babies transition to solids promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in countries where the crops are robust. This Superfood is high in vitamin C, protein (yes, plants have protein!), and has 7 times more iron than spinach. It is also more nutritious than kale and is a complete protein, containing all essential nine amino acids. It’s no wonder research shows it can help stabilize your blood sugar and is a great superfood to include if you have diabetes or gestational diabetes with pregnancy. Here at Boobie*, we use the dried leaves of the best quality organic moringa and make it into a powdered form to use in all of our products to nourish our SuperMoms.
Flaxseed
Flaxseed is a commonly known superfood due to it’s omega 3 fatty acid and fiber content. For vegetarians and vegans, getting adequate omega 3 can be a challenge so plant based sources such as flax seed can be a welcomed addition to support adequate mood and cardiovascular health.4 Just two tablespoons of ground flaxseed provides almost 2 grams of fiber which supports balanced blood sugar and regular bowel movements- all welcomed benefits for new mamas! We made sure to include it in Boobie Bark and Boobie Bars.
You’ll find these certified organic superfoods and more in our Boobie* Herbal Complex alongside 19 grams of plant-based protein, prebiotics/fiber and probiotics to help nourish your gut and your overall health. We know that every meal or snack in motherhood is an opportunity for you to fuel yourself with clean nutrient dense foods so we’ve done the work for you with unique products to suit whatever stage of motherhood you’re in.
